Information architecture: List of tools for diagramming

Diagramming tools, the information architect’s hammer. Vitality Friedman’s has compiled a list of nifty diagramming tools, including tutorials on IA, free diagramming software, web-based diagram software (Gliffy and Ajaxio), and a list of commercial software programs. I use Visio on PC and OmniGraffle on Mac.

What do you use for diagramming?

I’ve tried a number of things over the years — Visio and SmartDraw on the PC, OmniGraffle on the Mac, Dia on several different platforms.

Turns out, I usually find it faster, more convenient and more productive to use a pencil and paper, or draw on a whiteboard and take pictures afterward.
